How the Part 107 knowledge test works (format, cost, passing score)

PLACEHOLDER POST — this article exists so the blog flow can be tested end to end. Replace it with real editorial content before launch.

Want to fly drones commercially in the US? It starts with one test: the FAA Part 107 (Remote Pilot) knowledge test.

The format

  • 60 multiple-choice questions, three options each
  • 120 minutes
  • 70% or better to pass
  • Taken in person at a PSI testing center

What it covers

Regulations, airspace and sectional charts, weather, loading and performance, and operations — exactly the knowledge areas defined by the FAA's Airman Certification Standards (ACS).

How to prepare

Practice with realistic questions, learn to read a sectional chart, and take full simulated exams under the real time limit until you pass consistently.
